For their 40th anniversary, Gerda and Kristoffer (Bodil Jørgensen, Kristian Halken) go on vacation to Rome… where they meet a man (Rolf Lassgård) who made quite an impression on Gerda many years ago.

Everything is obvious right from the start. He’s a dull curmudgeon, she wants to enjoy the city where she spent part of her youth; naturally, their marriage will be challenged by the opera-loving Lassgård’s presence.

Fine cast in a film that addresses relevant issues like how to live one’s life, and how we are affected by our relationships… but it’s all too humdrum.
