Turtles All the Way Down

YOU ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS.

Together with her best friend (Cree), 16-year-old Aza Holmes (Isabela Merced), who’s struggling with OCD, tries to find out what happened to a missing billionaire; there’s a personal connection in the shape of his son (Felix Mallard).

Merced’s second John Green screen adaptation (after Let It Snow (2019)) provides her with a good role that isn’t automatically endearing; Aza may be beautiful and smart, but her condition also makes her self-centered.

Informed by Green’s personal experiences from OCD, the film is an appealing teen drama about the need to break free from our constraints.

2024-U.S. VOD. 111 min. Color. Directed by Hannah Marks. Novel: John Green. Cast: Isabela Merced (Aza Holmes), Cree (Daisy Ramirez), Felix Mallard (Davis Pickett), Maliq Johnson, Poorna Jagannathan, Judy Reyes.

Trivia: Marks and Green appear in smaller roles.
