The Union

OLD FLAME. NEW MISSION.

A New Jersey construction worker (Mark Wahlberg) is surprised to see his high-school sweetheart (Halle Berry) back in town; next thing he knows, he’s been recruited to a top-secret intelligence organization.

There’s a good idea at the core of this Mission: Impossible wannabe action-comedy: the agents of The Union are working-class nobodies whose skills and experience make them fine operatives, disdained by the CIA.

The final half-hour has a thrilling chase, but the overall lackluster treatment makes the movie a missed opportunity.

2024-U.S. VOD. 107 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Julian Farino. Cast: Mark Wahlberg (Mike McKenna), Halle Berry (Roxanne Hall), Mike Colter (Nick Faraday), J.K. Simmons, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw, Jackie Earle Haley, Lorraine Bracco, Dana Delany.

Trivia: Co-produced by Wahlberg.
