The Stepfather

DADDY’S HOME.

The charming David Harris (Dylan Walsh) starts a relationship with Susan (Sela Ward), but neither she nor any of her children know that he just murdered the last family he was part of.

This remake of the 1987 original makes few changes, except replacing the teen daughter with a boy (which actually makes the story less interesting). Solid acting, especially from Walsh as the, shall we say, severely conservative stepdad… but not even he is a match for Terry O’Quinn.

The movie offers adequate thrills, but as we know it can be done better.

2009-U.S. 102 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Nelson McCormick. Cast: Dylan Walsh (David Harris), Sela Ward (Susan Harding), Penn Badgley (Michael Harding), Amber Heard, Sherry Stringfield, Paige Turco.

Trivia: Terry O’Quinn was offered a cameo, but declined.
