IN 1976 ARGENTINA, ON THE EVE OF A POLITICAL REVOLUTION, A TEACHER AND HIS STUDENTS AT AN EXCLUSIVE BOYS SCHOOL ARE ENLIGHTENED BY AN UNUSUAL GUEST.
In 1976, as Argentina is about to become a military dictatorship, British teacher Tom Michell (Steve Coogan) arrives at a school for privileged boys; soon, a penguin from Uruguay will change everything.
As you might guess, Coogan’s cynical character will also be affected by the bird that becomes an unlikely family member among staff and students at the school.
It’s a strange but mostly agreeable mix between lighthearted comedy and a serious attempt to depict the forced disappearances at the time, but knowing it is based on actual events helps, and so does Coogan’s performance.
