The Offer

AVERAGE

THE GREATEST MOVIE ALMOST NEVER MADE.

In the late 1960s, Albert Ruddy (Miles Teller) manages to talk the head of production (Matthew Goode) at Paramount into letting him produce a film adaptation of a novel that’s a hit but has also angered the Italian-American community.

The story of how The Godfather was made is told from the point of view of its producer and how he battled with Paramount over money and protecting Coppola’s vision, as well as trying to placate the Mafia, the Colombo family in particular.

A slick, handsome and engaging piece of Hollywood nostalgia; Goode stands out as the blindingly charismatic Evans.

2022-U.S. 538 min. Color. Widescreen. Created by Michael Tolkin. Theme: Isabella Summers. Cast: Miles Teller (Albert S. Ruddy), Matthew Goode (Robert Evans), Dan Fogler (Francis Ford Coppola), Burn Gorman, Colin Hanks, Giovanni Ribisi, Juno Temple… Lou Ferrigno.

Trivia: Originally shown in ten episodes, several of them directed by Dexter Fletcher and Adam Arkin. Co-executive produced by Ruddy, Fletcher, Tolkin and Teller. Armie Hammer was originally cast as Ruddy.
