DIRTY HARRY JUST LEARNED A NEW GAME.
When a rock star (Jim Carrey) dies, Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) realizes that the alleged overdose was in fact murder; more celebrities in San Francisco are in danger…
The fifth Dirty Harry film is nothing special, but has two ingredients that stand out – Carrey in an early part as the spectacular rock star, and a thrilling chase through the streets of San Francisco (playfully echoing Bullitt) where Harry’s car is targeted by a bomb-laden radio-controlled toy car.
You wish the rest of the movie was that much fun, but the killer pretty much follows a template set by the earlier films.
1988-U.S. 91 min. Color. Directed by Buddy Van Horn. Cast: Clint Eastwood (Harry Callahan), Patricia Clarkson (Samantha Walker), Evan C. Kim (Al Quan), Liam Neeson, David Hunt, Michael Currie, Jim Carrey.
