Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

THE MACHINES WILL RISE.

The third part is uncomplicated and dares to challenge the concept a bit. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as the now obsolete machine that is still out to protect John Connor – and his future wife. It’s easy to feel sympathy for him as well as for the couple that is marked for extinction.

Fashion model Kristanna Lokken is a not-bad choice to play the highly capable Terminatrix, her attitude and style clearly inspired by Robert Patrick. A noisy chase including a fire truck is the action highlight.

The screenplay basically has the same structure as the other films in the series, but a depressing ending brings new future possibilities.

2003-U.S. 109 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jonathan Mostow. Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-101), Nick Stahl (John Connor), Claire Danes (Katherine Brewster), Kristanna Lokken (T-X), David Andrews, Mark Famiglietti.

Trivia: Earl Boen, who played Dr. Silberling in both previous films, has a funny cameo. In the early stages of the project, James Cameron was interested in directing; other filmmakers considered were Ridley Scott, Ang Lee and David Fincher. Edward Furlong and Jake Gyllenhaal were considered for the part of John Connor. Followed by Terminator Salvation (2009).
