Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

A JEDI SHALL NOT KNOW ANGER. NOR HATRED. NOR LOVE.

The second Star Wars movie in the second series brings us ten years into the future after the events in The Phantom Menace (1999).

The foundation to Anakin’s fall is laid during his teens when he opens himself up to the forces of evil. Meanwhile, the democratic Republic is threatened both from within and from the outside.

The worst part of the movie is the hopeless romance between Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Padmé (Natalie Portman) as well as the plastic look of some scenes. A few magnificent action scenes, but overlong.

2002-U.S. 143 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by George Lucas. Screenplay: George Lucas, Jonathan Hales. Music: John Williams. Cast: Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Natalie Portman (Padmé Amidala), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), Christopher Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Ian McDiarmid, Temuera Morrison… Pernilla August, Jimmy Smits, Rose Byrne, Joel Edgerton. Voice of Frank Oz.

Trivia: Topher Grace, Ryan Phillippe and Colin Hanks were considered for the part of Anakin. Followed by Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005).
