Solo: A Star Wars Story

A young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) joins a band of misfits led by Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), as he tries to find a way to return to the planet where he lost a girl (Emilia Clarke) he loved.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine of the Star Wars franchise, this 3D spin-off and prequel to Star Wars (1977) has been described as a ”space Western”. Initially fun, as we get to know young Han and see how he first met Chewbacca; Ehrenreich does his best channeling Harrison Ford.

The action is swift… but the longer it goes on the less interesting it gets, and it doesn’t know when to quit in the end.

2018-U.S. 135 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Ron Howard. Screenplay: Jonathan Kasdan, Lawrence Kasdan. Music: John Powell. Cast: Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Woody Harrelson (Tobias Beckett), Emilia Clarke (Qi’ra), Donald Glover, Thandiwe Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Paul Bettany… Warwick Davis, Ray Park. Trivia: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were originally hired as directors; they’re still credited as executive producers. Taron Egerton and Miles Teller were considered for the role of Han Solo.
