OWN YOUR POWER.
In 1963, veteran activist Bayard Rustin (Colman Domingo) tries to organize a march on Washington, in spite of friction with the NAACP and the fact that his homosexuality might be fodder for his enemies.
It took a long time for Rustin to be as recognized as some of the other civil-rights heroes, but now that his sexual preferences no longer are seen as shameful, the time is right for a biopic.
Very traditional, without truly stirring moments, the film is still worth a look because of Domingo’s committed performance and an interesting depiction of the conflicts within the movement leading up to the march.
