GO FOR IT!
After the last movie‘s big fight in the Soviet Union, Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) returns home with a brain damage and few financial assets; he starts training a young, promising boxer (Tommy Morrison)…
A completely superfluous sequel that tries to connect with the simplicity of the first film. Offers the novelty of Stallone playing against his son, but there’s no drama here that we haven’t seen in earlier entries.
Symbolically enough, the climactic bout is just a simple street brawl.
1990-U.S. 104 min. Color. Directed by John G. Avildsen. Screenplay: Sylvester Stallone. Cast: Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa), Talia Shire (Adrian Balboa), Burt Young (Paulie Pennino), Sage Stallone (Robert “Rocky” Balboa), Burgess Meredith, Tommy Morrison.
Trivia: Co-produced by Irwin Winkler. Stallone’s original plan was to have Rocky killed in the end. Followed by Rocky Balboa (2006).
