Struggling writer Mort Rifkin (Wallace Shawn) accompanies his wife (Gina Gershon) to the San Sebastian film festival and ponders life through the power of cinema… while also becoming smitten with a local doctor (Elena Anaya).
A comedy that was made and (barely) released while Woody Allen faced fresh accusations of sexual abuse. It’s a chance for this cinephile to express his love for movies, and have a little fun with them, particularly art-house classics that influenced him.
Charming, and Shawn is amusing, but it’s also very slight and familiar.
