BEFORE GRU, THEY HAD A HISTORY OF BAD BOSSES.
After two Despicable Me films, we got a spin-off focusing on the lovable minions, their history of supporting villains through the ages and how they ended up in New York City in the 1960s, met a new boss – and then tried to rob Queen Elizabeth II in London.
A whole movie starring characters that were always intended to be supporting, not leading, tries one’s patience, but it was a huge box-office hit.
The story is for the birds, but the movie as a whole has its wild moments, with Pierre Coffin’s voice work a key advantage.
