In the 1990s, a young FBI agent (Maika Monroe) finds a connection between a series of murders in Oregon and her own past.

There were comparisons with The Silence of the Lambs (1991), but this is way crazier stuff, a horror movie featuring serial killers, black magic and spirited dolls.

Director Osgood Perkins was inspired by the real-life JonBenét Ramsey case and builds a thriller that overreaches… but it’s never dull, some of its shocks are cleverly staged and the main villain, played by a stir-crazy Nicolas Cage as a horrifying specter in white, is surprisingly unsettling.
