Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde

THIS SUMMER… JUSTICE IS BLONDE.

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) goes to Washington to work for Congresswoman Victoria Rudd (Sally Field); her aim is to introduce a bill to ban animal testing.

A sequel we could have done without. The formula, where a regular person makes a difference in the jaded halls of Congress, is old and treated with far less inspirational ambition than Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939).

It is particularly frustrating to see good actors like the two stars be unable to do something worthwhile with this dud.

2003-U.S. 94 min. Color. Directed by Charles Herman-Wurmfeld. Cast: Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods), Sally Field (Victoria Rudd), Regina King (Grace Rossiter), Jennifer Coolidge, Bruce McGill, Dana Ivey, Bob Newhart, Luke Wilson… Octavia Spencer.

Trivia: Co-executive produced by Witherspoon. Followed by a direct-to-video sequel, Legally Blondes (2009).
