Hulk

THE INNER BEAST WILL BE RELEASED.

After being exposed to gamma radiation, scientist Bruce Banner (Eric Bana) turns into a green giant whenever he loses his temper.

Ang Lee (a surprising choice) shaped the entire movie like a comic book where the viewer is thrown from frame to frame as the story progresses. The film looks great; the cinematography is in a very discreet shade of green and the computer-animated Hulk is certainly impressive.

But the writers get too analytical for their own good, resulting in an excessively long running time and a confusing climax. Bana is excellent as the hot-tempered researcher.

2003-U.S. 138 min. Color. Directed by Ang Lee. Screenplay: James Schamus, John Turman, Michael France. Comic Book: Stan Lee, Jack Kirby. Music: Danny Elfman. Visual Effects: Dennis Muren, and others. Cast: Eric Bana (Bruce Banner), Jennifer Connelly (Elizabeth Ross), Sam Elliott (Thaddeus Ross), Josh Lucas, Nick Nolte, Kevin Rankin. Cameos: Stan Lee, Lou Ferrigno.

Trivia: At one point, Joe Johnston was considered for directing duties. The TV series The Incredible Hulk ran from 1978-1982; Ferrigno played the green giant. Followed by The Incredible Hulk (2008).
