Corrupt cop Patrick Walker (Tom Hardy) is trapped in a deadly conflict between his colleagues, the Triad and a mayoral candidate (Forest Whitaker) who’s paying him.

Gareth Evans brings his martial arts skills to a gritty city where all hell is about to break loose. It takes a while for some kind of tension to build, due to unlikable, bland characters, a depressing, dark setting and a dull story.

Things improve a little bit once the real bloodletting begins, with a series of gloriously violent showdowns.
