Halloween III: Season of the Witch

… AND NOW THE EARTH WILL RUN WITH BLOOD AGAIN!

Doctor Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) and the daughter (Stacey Nelkin) of a murder victim go to a small town to find out what lies behind a company that makes Halloween masks…

Meant as a stand-alone entry in the franchise, this movie has no Michael Myers but a plot to kill children, inspired by witchcraft and Stonehenge.

Borrowing elements from Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), the story is laughably illogical… which is partly why it enjoys a certain cult following.

1982-U.S. 96 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. Cast: Tom Atkins (Daniel Challis), Stacey Nelkin (Ellie Grimbridge), Dan O’Herlihy (Conal Cochran), Ralph Strait, Michael Currie. Voice of Jamie Lee Curtis.

Trivia: Co-produced by John Carpenter (who also worked on the script). Curtis doesn’t play Laurie Strode. Joe Dante was originally hired to direct. Followed by Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988).
