Halloween

40 YEARS LATER, EVIL RETURNS HOME.

40 years after the murders that sent him to a psychiatric institution, Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) finds a way to escape – but Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is ready for him.

The best sequel of the bunch ignores everything that came before it and follows only the original film. David Gordon Green does everything he can to echo John Carpenter, but can’t avoid losing tension in the film’s second half; the story has its flaws and perhaps time hasn’t been too kind to Michael Myers and masked slasher killers of that type.

Still, better than most movies in this genre and Curtis is a treat as the alcoholic, obsessive Laurie, fighting for her daughter and granddaughter.

2018-U.S. 106 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by David Gordon Green. Screenplay: Jeff Fradley, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green. Music: Cody Carpenter, John Carpenter, Daniel Davies. Cast: Jamie Lee Curtis (Laurie Strode), Judy Greer (Karen Nelson), Andi Matichak (Allyson Nelson), James Jude Courtney (Michael Myers), Will Patton, Virginia Gardner.

Trivia: Co-executive produced by Curtis, Green, McBride and Carpenter. Mike Flanagan and Adam Wingard were considered for directing duties. Followed by two sequels, starting with Halloween Kills (2021).
