A NORDIC MYTH AWAKENS.
When a woman goes missing in the woods, looking for her son who disappeared two years ago, a team gathers to look for her in the dark, bitter cold.
A well-crafted horror movie that takes inspiration from a folktale about a supernatural being that guards over mine workers. That part of the story is never properly explored, even if a few scenes were shot in a centuries-old silver mine.
But this is still a potent genre exercise, reconnecting with our ancient fear of what’s hiding in dark forests, complete with a few scares that send a shiver down one’s spine thanks to the film’s wintry cinematography and effective sound design.
