A handsomely produced remake of Liv Ullmann’s 2000 film, one that opens up the scenario, embraces a past set in the 1970s and spends a lot of effort on the intense sexuality of Marianne and David’s (Gustavsson, Lindh) infidelity.

Events that take place decades later, when they are much older and face the consequences of their actions, are less engaging, in spite of a solid cast… where the only false move is made by the filmmakers in their decision to cast the older David with a Danish star, whose dubbed, AI-manipulated dialogue is delivered in a labored, distracting way.
