THIS HOLIDAY, DISCOVER YOUR INNER ELF.
A young man (Will Ferrell) who was raised as an elf at Santa’s workshop at the North Pole arrives in New York to find his real father.
Director Jon Favreau’s Christmas comedy is funny without being too cute and has become a Yuletide favorite for many over the years. It takes a look at the relationship between fathers and sons and why it’s important to be courageous enough to believe in something. There’s an obvious formula here, but the filmmakers get away with it.
The supporting cast is wonderful, especially Bob Newhart, and Ferrell is hilarious as the hyper human elf who’s enjoying a constant sugar rush.
