DO YOU HATE SPIDERS? DO YOU REALLY HATE SPIDERS? WELL, THEY DON’T LIKE YOU EITHER.
After an accident with toxic waste, spiders mutate and grow in size, eventually attacking humans in a small Arizona town.
A film in the vein of Tremors (1989) and Arachnophobia (1990); director Ellory Elkayem turned an earlier short subject of his into this big-screen homage to corny 1950s monster movies. Fairly well paced, it has a nice sense of humor, creates tension and features amusing special effects.
For those who are willing to live with the silliness, it offers a good time, even if similar films have done it better. The leads fail to excite, but the supporting cast compensates.
2002-U.S. 99 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Ellory Elkayem. Cast: David Arquette (Chris McCormick), Kari Wuhrer (Sam Parker), Scott Terra (Mike Parker), Scarlett Johansson, Doug E. Doug, Rick Overton.
Trivia: Co-executive produced by Roland Emmerich.
