In 1992, a dangerous incident in space involving the Endeavour brings great new powers to Jean Grey (Sophie Turner).
Set nine years after X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), this film wasn’t really what audiences or critics demanded. It was Simon Kinberg’s directing debut, a franchise veteran who based the script on one of the comic book’s more elaborate stories.
Decent action, especially during a long train sequence, and an excellent Hans Zimmer score, but the film feels mostly like an afterthought.
