Fanny (Lou de Laâge), who’s married to a wealthy man (Melvil Poupaud) in Paris, bumps into an acquaintance (Niels Schneider) from high school; friendship leads to love, but Fanny’s husband begins to suspect something is wrong.
Luck plays a huge part in Woody Allen’s 50th film, a French-speaking thriller where the director’s light touch is an appealing part of it; in the second half, tension also builds as Fanny’s mother (Valérie Lemercier) smells a rat.
A fine cast, lovely autumnal views of Paris, and an ending that fits perfectly with the overall theme are among the benefits of this slight but diverting film.
