BREAKHEART PASS WAS THE END OF THE LINE.
In the 1870s, a train is headed for Fort Humboldt in California where diphtheria is raging – but that’s far from the whole truth.
The same year as the director and Charles Bronson made Breakout, they were also responsible for this exciting Alistair MacLean adaptation, where on a train packed with stock characters we keep wondering who’s a hero and who’s a bad guy. People keep dying mysteriously and the whole thing ends with an action-packed showdown by the fort.
Gets a shot in the arm from an isolated setting, Yakima Canutt’s stunt work (this was his last movie) and Jerry Goldsmith’s robust music score.
