Avicii: I’m Tim

A year after the death of the immensely successful DJ Tim ”Avicii” Bergling, journalist and filmmaker Henrik Burman started working on this documentary that ended up sharing themes with another one of his films, Yung Lean: In My Head (2020), which chronicled a troubled young rapper who suffered a breakdown due to mental issues and drug use.

Made with the blessing of Bergling’s family, I’m Tim examines his life, from childhood through his global breakthrough, offering footage we’ve never seen before and interviews with people who helped build his career, as well as some of the major talents (including Chris Martin and Nile Rodgers) who collaborated with him.

A tearful must for fans, a well-made portrait for the rest of us.

2024-Sweden. 95 min. Color. Written and directed by Henrik Burman. Editing: Orvar Anklew, Kalle Lindberg.

Trivia: First shown at the Tribeca film festival, then released on Netflix.
