Alien Resurrection

WITNESS THE RESURRECTION.

200 years after Ripley’s (Sigourney Weaver) death, we find her clone on a ship full of monsters that scientists use for research. Gee, you don’t think they will escape…?

With this fourth movie in the series it’s pretty clear that there is nothing new to say. The film definitely bears director Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s mark, even in the choice of certain actors; always intense, it’s something of a mess, but looks great and treats us to excellent special effects.

Seeing the horrific creatures swim is a lot of fun, but the freakish birth scene in the ending is a mistake.

1997-U.S. 108 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Screenplay: Joss Whedon. Cast: Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley), Winona Ryder (Annalee Call), Dominique Pinon (Vriess), Ron Perlman, Gary Dourdan, Michael Wincott, Dan Hedaya, Brad Dourif.

Trivia: Co-produced by Weaver and Walter Hill. Danny Boyle, Peter Jackson and Bryan Singer were considered for directing duties. Followed by Alien: Romulus (2024); the monsters also returned in Alien vs. Predator (2004).
