HUMAN TRAFFICKERS BEWARE.
When a young woman is kidnapped by human traffickers, her parents turn to a construction worker (Jason Statham) in their employment, who has a military past.
David Ayer and Statham reunited after The Beekeeper (2024) for a movie where the bone-breaking star pretty much plays the same character. This time he’s up against Russian mobsters who look and behave as you expect, except in this case they’re unusually clumsy and dress like comic-book characters.
Bloody, but longish and far too humdrum.
2025-U.S. 116 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by David Ayer. Screenplay: Sylvester Stallone, David Ayer. Novel: Chuck Dixon (”Levon’s Trade”). Cast: Jason Statham (Levon Cade), David Harbour (Gunny Lefferty), Michael Peña (Joe Garcia), Arianna Rivas, Jason Flemyng, Noemi Gonzalez.
Trivia: Co-produced by Statham and Stallone; the latter’s original plan was to make a TV series.
