A Good Day to Die Hard

LIKE FATHER. LIKE SON. LIKE HELL!

When John McClane (Bruce Willis) learns that his son Jack (Jai Courtney) is facing prison in Russia, he goes to Moscow where he instantly lands smack in the middle of a violent attempt to snatch an imprisoned former billionaire.

The fifth movie in the franchise is by far the shortest, which might be a good idea when the pacing is this frantic. Some of the action set-pieces (especially a long car chase) are stupendous in more ways than one.

Every character is strictly cartoonish, so there’s no chance to actually feel anything for anyone.

2013-U.S. 98 min. Color. Directed by John Moore. Cast: Bruce Willis (John McClane), Jai Courtney (Jack McClane), Sebastian Koch (Yuri Komarov), Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Yuliya Snigir, Rasha Bukvic.

Trivia: Aaron Paul and Liam Hemsworth were considered for the part of Jack.
