A couple, Patrick and Karina (Sam Claflin, Antonia Thomas), and their young son, are tormented by a sinister creature who turns out to be connected to Patrick’s childhood.

The Scottish director’s first American film introduces a mythical figure who will steal your children and stuff them into his bag. It’s horror with familiar ideas, perhaps primarily drawing on our fear of pedophiles.

It’s all too generic; the hint of a sequel in the end is an offer we should refuse.
