THE RULES HAVE BEEN RESET.
When Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is sent back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), he finds a changed past; she already knows everything about Skynet… and there is a startling surprise ahead.
The fifth film is another reboot of the franchise, one that flirts heavily with the original while also devising a complicated new storyline, one that controversially turns an iconic hero into a villain. Throwing in lots of action (now in 3D) and jokes about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s age, the film is closer in style to Terminator 3 than the more menacing Salvation.
Traditional, loud and even endearing at times… but the writers try a little too hard.
