THE GREATEST UNDERDOG STORY OF OUR TIME… IS BACK FOR ONE FINAL ROUND.
Aging champ Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) decides to come out of retirement for one final fight against the reigning champion, Mason Dixon (Antonio Tarver).
That’s the predictable, simple story for the sixth and final film in this series, but director Stallone finally gets it right after the fiasco that was Rocky V (1990). He delivers a touching performance as a grieving widower and has-been who can still throw a punch.
The film has the same kind of atmosphere as the first one and tries to stay true to that kind of credibility. Stallone succeeds fairly well, and the fight is exciting.
2006-U.S. 102 min. Color. Written and directed by Sylvester Stallone. Cast: Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa), Burt Young (Paulie Pennino), Milo Ventimiglia (Robert Balboa), Geraldine Hughes, James Francis Kelly III, Tony Burton. Cameo: Mike Tyson.
