The Mozart Brothers

When a director (Etienne Glaser), who’s very much in demand, arrives at the opera to stage a controversial new vision of ”Don Giovanni”, he faces disbelief and rebellion.

Suzanne Osten’s most famous film is also her best, as she takes on a world she knows very well: the arts. It’s an inventive, playful and colorful comedy about frail egos and clashes between the unconventional and the conservative, much of it recognizable from any workplace.

The themes of Mozart’s opera are reflected in the film; the composer is even haunting the director. Uneven slapstick ingredients, but great cast.

1986-Sweden. 109 min. Color. Directed by Suzanne Osten. Screenplay: Etienne Glaser, Suzanne Osten, Niklas Rådström. Cast: Etienne Glaser (Walter), Philip Zandén (Flemming), Henry Bronett (Fritz), Loa Falkman, Agneta Ekmanner, Lena T. Trivia: Original title: Bröderna Mozart. In Sweden, the film is famous as the last one Prime Minister Olof Palme saw before his murder the same evening.
