When Lainy Newton (Amy Schumer), who’s always wanted to have a family, tries on a fake pregnancy belly, she learns that people treat her differently; soon, she’s stuck in a lie.

A romantic comedy that looks embarrassingly stupid on paper, and it does come close to being that on occasion. But it’s also clear that co-writers Schumer and Julie Paiva are using the idea of Lainy stumbling through one crisis after another with her fake belly as a starting point for a silly but relatable portrait of a woman whose dream is slipping away.
