A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

Prince Richard (Ben Lamb) of Aldovia is set to marry his bride, Amber (Rose McIver), but the country is rocked by protests against the royal family.

This sequel is a slight improvement on the original, partly because we’re familiar with the characters now, but also because the film tries to deal with political intrigue and not merely the uneventful romance between the prince and the American reporter.

There is potential to do something unexpected here, but that’s not what Netflix or the filmmakers are after. Cute and innocuous is all we’re getting out of it.

2018-U.S. VOD. 92 min. Color. Directed by John Schultz. Cast: Rose McIver (Amber Moore), Ben Lamb (Prince Richard), Alice Krige (Queen Helena), Honor Kneafsey, Sarah Douglas, Theo Devaney.

Trivia: Followed by A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby (2019).
