When Robotnik (Jim Carrey) suddenly returns from the mushroom planet where he was banished, he brings along an echidna warrior who’s looking for an ancient relic.

The sequel borrows new characters from the games, including Tails, a fox who’s on Sonic’s side. The story has our hero feeling more comfortable with his new family as he faces new dangers.

Kids will appreciate the mayhem (the final battle has a cool, gigantic robot), and one has to admire Carrey’s energy, but it all goes on for two, exhausting hours.
