A young, blue hedgehog that can run at supersonic speed has been hiding on Earth for years and feels lonely… until his activities are noticed by the Defense Department.

This adaptation of the classic video game was initially met with outrage from fans who found the design of the CGI-animated hero off-putting. It was changed in time for the final film, which has gained a following.

Jim Carrey’s crazy villain is one reason for adults to appreciate something in this hysterical, but ultimately rather appealing, kids movie.

Trivia: Chris Pratt and Jason Bateman were considered for the role of Tom. Followed by two sequels, starting with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), and a spin-off series, Knuckles (2024).
