The Hangover Part II

THE WOLFPACK IS BACK.

It is Stu Price’s (Ed Helms) turn to get married and the gang goes to “Thighland”… where a night on the beach leads to another devastating hangover.

It remains a complete mystery why these guys keep hanging out with Zach Galifianakis’s rude, accident-prone character, but there wouldn’t be a sequel without him. The filmmakers opt for the easiest way out and simply copy everything from the original, changing only a few details here and there.

OK entertainment, but not even the talented cast seem genuinely committed to the material.

2011-U.S. 102 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Todd Phillips. Screenplay: Craig Mazin, Scot Armstrong, Todd Phillips. Cast: Bradley Cooper (Phil Wenneck), Ed Helms (Stu Price), Zach Galifianakis (Alan Garner), Justin Bartha (Doug Billings), Ken Jeong, Paul Giamatti, Jeffrey Tambor… Nick Cassavetes, Mike Tyson.

Trivia: Co-produced by Phillips. The tattoo artist character was originally written for Mel Gibson; Liam Neeson was ultimately cast but then replaced by Cassavetes. Followed by The Hangover Part III (2013).
