In the late 1700s, a small Bavarian town loses its master glassblower, who takes his secrets with him; the effect on the townspeople is devastating.

One of Werner Herzog’s least accessible 1970s films was based on a folktale about a seer who predicts the future, perhaps for all of Germany, depending on how much you read into the muddled script.

The film is famous for its cast working under hypnosis, resulting in uneven acting choices – but benefits from many seductive scenes (shot in all kinds of places), that are part of the seer’s visions.
