EVERY FAMILY HAS ITS DEMONS.
As if Ebony Jackson (Andra Day) doesn’t have enough on her plate, including alcoholism and a demanding mother (Glenn Close), something strange is going on in the house where she just moved in together with her kids.
Inspired by a real-life case of supposed demonic possession, this horror movie initially seems more interested in depicting a struggling working-class family. It does benefit from a good cast, including a showy Close.
Most of the horror in the film, however, is ineffective, especially that dull last half-hour.
