When Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) learns that his estranged daughter (Taylour Paige), a lawyer working in Beverly Hills, is threatened, he goes west for the first time in 30 years.

That’s how long it took for this fourth film in the franchise to get off the ground. Fortunately, it turns out to be an improvement, providing fan service that isn’t just a boring retread.

Sure, we get obligatory cameos and countless nods to the 1980s (especially the score), but there’s also plenty of entertaining action sequences (including a wild helicopter chase) and solid support from Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
