Ahead of a major triathlon to be held in the Seine, a marine researcher (Bérénice Bejo) realizes that a big, deadly shark has made its way into the river.
On paper, it’s easy to dismiss this film as ridiculously over-the-top, and that’s all. It is undeniably silly, but the story also connects with contemporary issues and events, including the climate crisis and the upcoming Olympics in Paris, having fun with an Anne Hidalgo-type mayor who’s also inspired by Murray Hamilton in Jaws (1975).
Uneven visual effects, but the shark action is fun and exciting, leading up to an explosive climax.
